MICHAEL J. CLARKE
MICHAEL J. CLARKE

Michael J. Clarke was born and raised in Connecticut. He graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University in 1990 with a BA in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice.  Michael always had a job and during college he worked security at college bars; managed a half-way house for inmates being released back into society; was a correctional officer at Morgan Street Detention Center and Hartford Correctional Center; and conducted investigations for a local law firm.

Michael’s mother pushed him into boxing at a young age so that he could defend himself from the local bullies; he learned to appreciate organized violence and played rugby, trained in martial arts, kickboxing and MMA. All of which helped pay some bills with cage-fighting during the early 1990’s in Los Angeles.

Upon moving to the west coast, Michael worked as a field investigator for Travelers Insurance specializing in covert surveillance in South Central LA from 1990 to 1994.  After leaving Travelers, he founded Archangel Investigations in 1995 and Archangel Protection in 1997. During his first 10 years of business, his clients included celebrities, musicians, lawyers, CEOs and those that needed help with nowhere else to turn. Over the past 25 years, he built Archangel Investigations & Protection into a national agency and became personally licensed in 45 states until he sold the investigation agency and founded an executive protection agency, Clarke Protection Services. Michael is also CEO of The Safer Solution, an active shooter response training company that he formed with Navy SEALS and Army Special Ops.

Michael’s expertise encompasses covert and counter surveillance, interviews, skip-tracing, executive protection, threat assessments and risk mitigation.

Michael has presented his expertise at many industry conferences, discussing topics of covert surveillance, social media investigations, investigation ethics, assessing threats and active shooters.  He has also appeared on ABC World News discussing the topic of kidnapping, virtual kidnapping and ransom. Michael is a member of the World Association of Detectives, California Association of Licensed Investigators, Texas Association of Licensed Investigators, NCISS, ASIS International and many more.

When Michael isn’t feeding his obsessive research of how and why people engage in violence; he can be found playing chess, golfing, scuba diving, riding motorcycles or spending time with his Rhodesian Ridgebacks at his home in Malibu, California.
